about us

A Music Recording Studio

Whitby Studios ia an established recording studio trading from Ellesmere Port Cheshire for over 15 years. We have helped hundreds of Artists and Bands create great music over those years, and still continue to develope and support music throughout the UK.

Help and Advice

Being both experienced sound engineers and fully trained musicians, we can give help in all aspects of the recording process. Bands recording for the first time or professional recording artists with their latest project will all benefit from our vast experience, knowledge and expertise in the art of recording music.

The Full Package

Over the past year we have developed our business to include CD Duplication, YouTube videos, Photography and Sheet Music printing. We can now offer our clients a complete package designed to meet all requirements. With the music business being so competitive, we feel our clients will be better placed to promote their talent worldwide.

Songwriters and PRS

Lots of our clients write their own material. We believe songwriters should join the PRS-MCPS, and enjoy the benefits of their work being properly registered. We can give advice on how to join and also tag audio wave files with ISRC codes, so your tracks are instantly picked up by the PRS-MCPS when played on Radio or TV.

Year Placements

Since 2003 we have offered year placements at the studios. The Placement is part of a four year degree course, with the third year spent at Whitby Studios. Engineers who have completed the year placements, include Chris Fielding(Fold Studios), Gethin Davies, Miles Farrnell-Williams, Tom Wild, James Key, Clark Hind and this years placement Daniel Pybus. All placements have contributed greatly to the development of Whitby Studios.

Musical Equipment

Yahama Birch Custom Absolute Drums

All Birch Shell. In production for over 25 years, the world famous Recording Custom series has given Yamaha craftsmen a deep understanding of the characteristics of birch. It is with that knowledge that Yamaha have been able to extract a richer sound from these new drums. The shells are manufactured using exclusive Air Seal System. This technique, while enhancing the characteristics of the wood, also ensures that every drum shell is perfectly round, of uniform thickness, and creates a stronger, more durable shell. Producing clear mid-and low-tones with sharp, solid highs, the Birch Custom Absolute is sure to create a new standard for birch shell sound.

Marshall DSL50 Tube Amplifier 4x12 Stack

The Marshall DSL50 Amplifier Head is coupled with a 100% pure valve signal path (4 X ECC83s, 2 X EL34s), dual Reverb controls, a Tone Shift switch which 'scoops out' the mids and a Deep switch that adds a tight, low end boost. The Classic channel offers a Clean/Crunch option while the Ultra offers Lead 1 and Lead 2.
